I took many measurements of the truck bed to build a bed frame that could accomplish a few functions, as well as work around a few obstacles. Obstacles included ensuring the footing of the frame could navigate around the wheel arches, fit as snug as possible, while allowing truck tailgate to secure properly, and remain lightweight to be able to be easily removed by just one person. The functions included having the ability to be secured by just one ratchet strap that is not seen on the bottom, able to fit two snowboards in the left cubby and two storage bins in the right cubby, securely hold a twin-size mattress, and maintain enough room for the cooler and dog bed on the right side.
